According to the police, the accused, identified as Shivam Kumar, lives with his wife and children in the same area as the complainant, who is from UP’s Kannauj and works in a private company.
“I am separated from my husband due to his alcohol addiction and am residing in a rented accommodation. I met Shivam at a workplace and gradually, we started dating in November last year. But he never told me about his marriage and also gave me false hopes of the future. I was always suspicious about him in the relationship,” the complainant told cops.
She further said that when she discovered about his first wife and confronted him, the accused forced himself on her.
“As I resisted his advances, he turned aggressive and started sexually assaulting me. As the situation heated up, he attacked me with a screwdriver which was in his pocket. He stabbed me in the neck, leaving me with deep injuries,” the woman said.
Kumar then fled the spot and the woman was taken to a government hospital in Sector 10, where she was treated.
The cops were informed and a case was registered against Kumar under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons), 376(2) (rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Naharpur Rupa police station.
The accused was arrested from near Rajeev Chowk on Friday morning.
