They were produced in court on Thursday, which sent them to judicial custody. Cops launched a manhunt after the victims filed a complaint on August 14 at Tauru Sadar police station, alleging armed robbery by four men.
Police also suspect their involvement in communal clashes that broke out on July 31 in Nuh. “We formed a team to nab the miscreants, and three members of a gang involved in the robbery on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway were arrested on August 21 snd produced in the court on August 24,” said Nuh SP Narendra Brijarnia.
They have been identified as Afzal and Imran, aka Hydra — both residents of Dhulawat village in Taoru — and Wasim Akram from Rajasthan’s Khod village.
One of the victims, Shahrukh, told police that he was heading to the market along with his friend Jeetu to collect payments when they were intercepted by four men near the Dhulawat toll plaza.
“Approximately two kilometres from Manesar, near the Dhulawat toll plaza, four men armed with sticks and pistols intercepted us. They snatched Rs 6,000 from me and Rs 14,000 and a mobile phone from Jeetu at gunpoint. They also threatened us with consequences if we told anyone about the robbery and then fled,” Shahrukh said in his complaint.
All four accused have been booked under IPC sections 398 (armed robbery) and 379 A (snatching).
“During questioning, they confessed to their crime. They revealed that they had hidden the stolen money in various places. Till now, we have recovered Rs 13,000 from them. They are part of a gang that assaults and robs motorists along the KMP Expressway,” added the SP.
Meanwhile, police are trying to nab the fourth man involved in the alleged robbery and learn about other gang members.
