The plan to set up a task force for the Aravalis is yet to take off, seven years after it was first proposed. Aimed at curbing illegal encroachments, tree felling, destruction of natural wildlife habitat, construction and mining activities in the protected Aravalis, it was initially proposed by the forest department in 2016. Then forest minister Rao Narbir Singh had in 2018 said the task force would come into action “within 10 days”. Till now, however, there has been no progress in the project.
