In the suburb (Gurgaon) of New Delhi, India, a horrifying incident unfolded as a mob of far-right Hindus attacked and set fire to a mosque, resulting in the tragic death of the mosque’s deputy imam. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Maulana Saad, the prayer leader of Anjuman Jama mosque located in Sector 57, Gurugram, a bustling city known for its towering structures and corporate offices.

During the attack on Tuesday morning, a group of 50 to 60 miscreants opened fire and caused arson at the Anjuman mosque, leading to the death of Maulana Saad and injuring another person. Three others were present during the attack, with two fortunately escaping harm.

Authorities swiftly responded by arresting a few individuals in connection with the incident and launching a thorough investigation. Nevertheless, the situation in Gurugram remained tense as mobs continued to roam the streets, targeting and damaging small eateries and scrap shops, most of which belonged to the Muslim community.

The attack on the mosque follows violent clashes between Hindu and Muslim communities in the neighboring Nuh district of Haryana state, where a curfew was imposed. The clashes, triggered by a Hindu religious procession passing through a Muslim-majority region, resulted in four deaths, including two police personnel. Additional police personnel were injured during the confrontations, with the state government seeking more forces to restore order.

Amidst the unrest, internet services were suspended in the affected area, and large gatherings were prohibited. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed his concern and urged people to maintain peace, promising to take strict action against the culprits.

The incidents reflect the escalating tensions and clashes between Hindu and Muslim communities in the region. As authorities work to control the situation, the focus remains on restoring peace and order while ensuring justice for the victims and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
