During the ongoing sealing drive against illegal commercial activities, the enforcement team found 19 shops running from different floors in seven buildings. Residents protested against the sealing but police managed the crowd and the sealing operation continued till evening.
District town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav said the property owners in Siris, Moulsari Avenue and Nathupur were running guesthouses, shops, salons and other commercial activities without permission from the competent authorities.
The offenders were served notices earlier but they failed to serve satisfactory replies after which restoration orders were issued. Despite this, offenders did not stop the activities. These activities are also in violation of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975 and occupation certificate norms.
Apart from this, guesthouses were being operated from three houses but during the sealing, the apartment was found closed and the property was restored, due to which these houses were not sealed.
The enforcement team also removed two iron gates, illegally installed in the U block of Pink Town House in DLF 3. The RWA members blocked the way to protest against it, but the officials told them that gates were against the rules and complaints were being received continuously.
Yadav appealed to the people that permission for commercial activities can be taken from the department for some selected activities — up to 25 per cent or 50 square meters of the total construction area of the ground floor in residential houses. The activities include offices of property dealers, lawyers, chartered accountants, contractors, clinics, tax consultants, architects, town planners (without studios), company secretaries, ayurvedic and homeopathic clinics, tourist guides, psychiatrist clinics among other activities that fall under the no nuisance category.
The department is focused on demolishing illegal commercial activities in DLF 1, 2, 3 & 4, Sushant Lok 1, 2 & 3, Suncity, Vatika India Next and South City 1 & 2. According to the official, they have set a target of sealing around 150 commercial activities this month. Officials are repeatedly appealing to people to stop commercial activities as sealing action will be taken if such activity is found.
Meanwhile, the residents have been complaining about overburdened infrastructure due to unauthorised construction and illegal commercial activities on residential plots.
