With the announcement of two new cases by the district health department on Wednesday, the total number of dengue fever cases in Gurgaon surpassed 100.
Concern was raised when district officials revealed that there had been 24 incidents this month as of Wednesday.
The department stated that even though there haven’t been any deaths recorded as of yet, they’ve expanded their quick fever survey, in which agents screen homes door to door.
Dr. Jai Parkash, the District Malaria Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, stated that the department has already covered 1.5 lakh homes this month.
In addition to the fast fever survey, which was expanded to include 15 days on October 1st, we are also passively monitoring hospitals as new cases come in. In accordance with the need, we have set up 25 beds in the Civil Hospital and 5–10 beds in the three subdivisional hospitals,” he stated.
He said that everyone has been told to observe Sunday as a “dry day” (check for water stagnation), wear long sleeves, apply ointment, and use insect repellent while going outside at night.
On Wednesday, a total of 16,114 residences were surveyed, and 220 larval instances were discovered.
Wazirabad, Bhangrola, Nakhrola, Badshapur, Bhondsi, Bhorakalan, Gurgaon, and Garhi are the places most severely impacted.
Thirty-one quick tests and 160 samples were obtained on Wednesday. According to the government, 191 notices were issued under the Municipal Bye-laws Act (1973), bringing the total number of notices issued to 14,456.
In addition, Dr. Jai Parkash advised anybody experiencing symptoms to see a hospital rather than self-medicate or use over-the-counter medications. He continued, saying, “The Gurgaon Municipal Corporation has been continuing fogging in the urban areas and the panchayats in rural pockets.”
The district reported 276 instances in 2023, with one casualty, compared to 440 cases in 2022. There were 327 reported cases of dengue in 2021.
