Gurgaon: A 28-year-old helper died after a trailer hit his truck from behind near Bilaspur Chowk on NH-8 on Thursday evening. The driver of the pickup truck, Nitin (30), suffered minor injuries.
Rajeev Kumar and Nitin were heading towards Gurgaon from Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi on Thursday, cops said. They witnessed heavy traffic near Panchgaon Chowk due to Republic Day celebrations so they diverted towards Bilaspur Chowk when a trailer rammed into their vehicle, after which the pickup truck collided with the divider and flipped on the other side of the road.The driver of the trailer, Ved Pal, left his vehicle at the spot and fled.
“Both of us got injured, but Rajeev sustained injuries on his head and arms. A passerby got us admitted to the Astha hospital,” Nitin — also the complainant in the case — said. Rajeev was later admitted to Prime hospital in Rewari, where he died during treatment.
“We have apprehended the accused using the trolley’s registration number. Strict actions will be taken against him,” Inspector Arwind, SHO of Bilaspur police station, said.
