More than 1.6 lakh students had registered themselves online for undergraduate admissions in 346 government and non-government colleges in the state.
The department of higher education had to extend the deadlines thrice earlier too after starting the admission process in June.
Since they received less than the total number of seats allotted by the colleges, they had to provide three extra days for the process after July 7.
The department reopened the online portal from August 19 to 25 and for physical counselling from August 19 to 26. The department cited the “demand from colleges and students” as the reason behind reopening the same.
The department has failed to fill up all the seats for undergraduate first year, said sources from the department on Monday.
A senior official from the department said, “Until July 7, we only had about 14,000 applications for the UG seats in colleges across Haryana. However, the extension resulted in the applications increasing multifold.”
