A woman residing in Gurgaon’s Sector 85 was duped of nearly Rs 11 lakh by fraudsters who offered her work-from-home opportunities. The woman, originally from Agra, was contacted by the fraudsters through WhatsApp, who offered her a part-time job that involved liking YouTube videos and subscribing to certain channels. The woman received her first task on April 13 and was asked to invest Rs 5,000. After completing the task, she was paid Rs 6,440, which convinced her that the job was genuine.
However, the fraudsters continued to ask the woman for more money, and she was eventually made to invest Rs 11 lakh. The fraudsters then disappeared and became unresponsive. The woman filed a complaint with the cyber police of Manesar, and an FIR was lodged against the accused under IPC sections 406, 419, and 420, which deal with criminal breach of trust and cheating. Police spokesperson Subhash Boken has stated that teams have been formed to investigate the case.
